Today’s wheel seals can be broadly categorised by the rubber used for the sealimg lip. The two
main options are either a nitrile compound (NBR) or a hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR).To the layman
this may not seem very significant, but this has a dramatic effect on the expectedseal life as HNBR
has some key benefits over NBR, these being: |
Higher temperature capability, therefore the HNBR lip ages much slower |
Greater wear resistance, therefore increasing lip life |
Greater compatibility to a wider range of lubricating oils, including synthetics |
The e-Barrier is available in both NBR and HNBR versions with the tables below highlighting
the comparisons of both lip materials and the sizes against major competitors. |
